My Statement
In this piece i was looking at life from beginning to end.
If a person is lucky life can last a long time,
you reach the end of the book.

This is my matrix i have pop riveted the sides together
to create a circle, white paper has being inserted inside
to make the images more prominent, hoping to use this
together with the book maybe as a stand for the book.

Covering book for a nicer finish.

Finished piece opened.

Starting to remove pages.

Lifting cover, clamps have being used to hold down
 remaining parts of book.

Finish Print

Process: lyrics of lion king printed on Epsom printer, the matrix which is
perspex has being etched with images starting with baby and mother
ending with two grave stones. The matrix is inked up with black ink
cleaned off with tissue paper and scrim. The matrix is placed on the printing press
bed and the paper which has being soaked and blotted is then placed over the
plate. It is now ready to print.

Sample of a page that i hope my book will look like
the above was done in photo shop, the image was faded to 30%.
For my finish piece the lyrics will be faded  in the background and the image
will be etched, printed and more prominent.

Circle of Life lyrics to be placed as a background
for printing over.

Kara Walker

In the 1990s, American artist Kara Walker revived the art of the cut-paper silhouette, popular in nineteenth-century portraiture. Walker transformed this medium to suit her more transgressive aims, using the spare elegance of the black forms to depict scatological and sexually explicit tableaux set in the Civil War South.

Silhouette images birth to death

Silhouettes on text

According shape for book ?

Liked this image done in silhouette, looking at life from young to old.

ENSO
Found this Enso when i was looking at the circle of life.
Enso is the Japanese word for circle and is considered a form of
minimalist expressionist art. It is also an emblem of Zen Buddhism,
 a symbol of infinity, enlightenment.

This wonderful work was done by artist Alex Queral who craves Portraits into phone books.
Queral started carving phone books 14 years ago.
He says that in carving and painting a head from a phone directory he is celebrating the individual lost in the anonymous list of thousands of names that describe the size of the community

Photoshop Drawing

Using Indian ink to create different backgrounds
in order to make the cut out heads more prominent
at the moment just playing with different ideas.

This is the image that gave me the idea of going
from young to old in my book, i am hoping to
create different stages through life.

I was looking at the link from when people start out together and make a nest like other animals, the hen and her eggs need a home, they just need a place to crash does not matter what the house is like, to busy trying to live their lives, then they get to a stage they want something better to upgrade, then kids have grown moved out and moved on to different places, you get old,  you die, house goes to wreck, and the next cycle starts again.
